Defence lawyer suspended by Law Society of Alberta
A high profile Edmonton defence lawyer was suspended by the Alberta Law Society Thursday amid concerns about his conduct.
Shawn Allan Beaver was suspended under the Legal Profession Act by the society while his conduct is the subject of internal proceedings.
The society "considered his suspension warranted in the circumstances," states a notice from Elizabeth Osler, deputy executive director of the regulatory body Pandora Charms Clearance for Alberta's lawyers.
The Law Society released no further details about Beaver's suspension.
Beaver did not respond to a request for comment.
On Tuesday, a Court of Queen's Bench order transferred custodianship of Beaver's law firm Beaver, Leebody Associates to a Calgary law firm.
Beaver is also a lecturer at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law, where he teaches Pandora Charms Sale Clearance an Advanced Evidence class.
